Event
planning:
Ms. Tina
volunteered to reserve the picnic area and the VFW hall for the related
events. She is also coordinating the talent show at the VA hospital.
Class members will be asked to contribute to these events by
volunteering to help out and by arranging basket sponsorships ($100 per
basket times ten baskets) for the bingo.
Website:
Mr. Ron will post these dates on the Jarrettsville TKD website.
School
Equipment:
Mr Dwight will look into the purchase of 6 to 8
inch hurdles for class use. Mr Dwight also volunteered for class use and
agility ladder that he owns.
The purchase of red and blue headgear for competition was not
deemed to be necessary at this time.
Medical
Supplies:
Mr. Tony purchased 2 cases of ice packs and some 3
and 4 inch elastic bandages for class use.
Newsletter:
Master
Joe offered to write a brief article explaining the implications of the
controversy surrounding Grand Master Sang Lee’s position as USTU
president.
Future testing:
Master Joe is considering testing white belts for
promotion about 1 week or so after the State Tournament. He estimates
that about 14 of the new members are on track for this test.
Guest Speaker:
Master
Joe has been talking with Will Howard, M.D. who is a specialist in
sports medicine. A time and date have not been set and there is some
doubt as to whether Dr. Howard will be able to confirm a speaking date.
Other speakers are being considered if Dr. Howard is unable to
accommodate our schedule.
Phone Tree:
We should establish a phone tree to facilitate
rapid communication of important news. One option is for Mr. Tony to
contact key individuals (i.e. Mr. Steve, Ms. Tina, Mr. Dwight, Mr. Ron,
Ms. Donna, Ms. Ava, and Mr. Noel) who would in turn contact 9 or 10
class members. Master Joe would be contacted but not expected to make
additional calls.
Financial:
Our account is in good health. We agreed that the
class should help with tournament team members’ registration fees for
the state event that will be held on 2/14/04. Although the fees have
already been paid the class can reimburse in whole or in part with
receipts of payments.
